In-game clan system + party/pub-stomp team management!

Instead of picking teams in game calling dibs for a spot, how about a possibility for a party for pubstomp? I think this will give incentives for people to join the channel and play more often together.

Also, utilizing bank files, how about a three-letter name tag next to your name? This was brought up in different games but was never implemented!!!!!! Please implement this rut!

For example, in-game commands will do all the tricks for the clan system. This is how it would go:

1. Create private game with the players that you want to recruit.
2. Clan leader types -clancreate AAA and creates clan name AAA and the name tag will have red colored AAA.
3. Typing in -clanrecruit and a UI pops up (not during play) with list of names of players in the game. After clicking on the player's name, the player would accept and it would put yellow AAA tag for the player X for all future SDB games if the player X accepts.
4. -clanpromote would allow player X to recruit/kick other players and promoted members would be in orange.

Also, -clandeny and -clanallow could block all clan invitations or allow them.

Potential problem and solutions to them:

-There could be duplicate clan AAA. To settle this, the leader's name and bank ID would be stored in the recruits' bank files.
-Bank hackers can't be stopped, but it doesn't even matter that much.

Anyway, I think this should promote tournament play.

Alternative idea for the party/pub-stomp could be Nexus Word Wars kind of team matching.

Alrighy, let me give you my take on these ideas.

First off, having lobby-made teams is something I and many others have wanted for a long time, but unfortunately the Editor handles lobbies SO RIDICULOUSLY BAD that despite my trying I have not been able to make it work. Not only is it very hard to get lobbies set up this way, but applying it in-game is very difficult code-wise. Add on top of that the fact that to test any change at all requires me to publish a test version (which takes quite a while), have a second computer log on and download it (which also takes a long time), and then to make a game and test.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but this is something I've been working on for a while and it is by far the most frustrating thing I've ever tried to implement. I hope I'll be getting it to work in the near future, however, as I agree being able to pick your teams in the lobby is very important (and of course you'd still be able to switch teams in game if you want).

The clan system is a really cool idea. The way I'm thinking of doing it is to allow you to enter in a three-letter clan tag in the Career Stats menu, and it would be saved there and show in front of your name. This way would be very simple to create and use, and I think it would accomplish what you'd like to see. Maybe in the future I could start to add more controls and see if I can create a system where you'd have to be invited into a clan, but I think that would suffice for now. Do you agree?

I understand, because I've also experienced the lobby problems first hand.

Instead of in-lobby, it could be in-game. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Nexus Word Wars, but they have an interesting way of settings teams up. This could also be improved upon with "I prefer to play with this player and this player and this player" etc.

I definitely agree! Any progress towards fuller features is fine by me, though I don't think you'd need my permission or something... You're only spoiling the community. Razz
